Selected students will share their assignments with the other campers at our next Zoom session. Everyone will have the opportunity to receive feedback from their instructor.

Day 4: We will learn top composition rules. All things that can make or break their images. We will also dive into how to tell a story with a single image. Wait to you see what they can create after just 4 days.

Day 5: Our last day of camp will A Virtual Photography Exhibit. Family and friends are invited to attend this final session to see the kid’s amazing work. This session will have some more photo tips the entire family will enjoy. Including Basic Editing and finding fun & creative ideas for image making. Gather all those paper rolls, you will find a new use for them!

What is not covered: Digital SLR cameras can be used, however this class will not be covering topics such as ISO, Aperture or Shutter Speed.

Thank you so much… the Photography Camp has been ABSOLUTELY brilliant. I love how you broke it down into bite-sized parts for them and had them experiment with a specific new skill every class. The whole family loved seeing how creatively our daughter approached each new challenge. I also loved how you shared your own examples and told them the back story from a photographer’s perspective - including the things that went wrong / didn’t go to plan. It showed how much hard work is involved in creating a so-called “perfect" image

Hi Gray, I just like to say thanks so much for teaching me and others photography! I enjoyed it so much! You inspired me to be a photographer in the future! Thanks Again, Asha

Advanced Photography For Kids & Teens

Advance to the next level

Taking beautiful, well composed, and thoughtfully executed photos has become a sought after skill. During Creative Photography for Kids, we discuss how we can control our environment to capture beautiful images. However, our camera was still in control.

In Advanced Photography for Kids & Teens … I will teach children how to take control of their camera to expand on their creativity in photography.

Photographing in manual mode can be really intimidating, especially when you don’t fully understand what aperture, ISO, and shutter speed are and how they work together.

This class will teach children a fundamental understanding of shooting in semi manual modes and full manual mode.

  • We will begin with understanding key camera settings and the meaning of exposure

  • We will start with a good understanding of Aperture and how we can use aperture to bring creativity to our images. We will learn how to use Aperture Priority Mode.

  • Then we will get an understanding of Shutter Speed and how it can make or break our images. We will learn how to use your Shutter Priority Mode to capture moving objects without motion blur or do the opposite and show motion.

  • Then we will learn all about ISO and how it impacts images. We will put together Aperture-Shutter Speed-ISO and learn how they all work together to achieve the image we are after. We will learn how to read our camera’s light meter and histograms

  • Finally we will discuss the do’s and don’t to cropping, how to set your white balance

  • We will look at how photographers get inspiration from the world around them and from fine art.

  • Our final project will be to create a storytelling movie using images with the tools you have learned during the week.

Numbers will be strictly limited to 6 kids as this is a more advanced topic and will require more individual attention to master the skills.

What is not covered: This class is to learn how to use a Digital SLR camera. If you are only using an smartphone, this class is not for you.

I would 10 out of 10 recommend Advance Photography! I loved learning about Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, and Exposure. There is nothing I would change about the class, except to have more classes! Alex age 13
