After more than 30 years in early years and family services, working directly with vulnerable women and children and then leading teams doing the same work, Leonie has recently retired, and is learning who she is without the title that shaped her identity for so long. Along the way she survived a melanoma diagnosis that gave her three to five months to live, pushed through a marriage ending at 39 that left her rebuilding alone, and raised two children into capable, confident adults.

Her message to other women: offer yourself the same kindness you offer everyone else, the sun is going to come up tomorrow.
